Apple Replaces Text with Glyphs on Updated Magic Keyboards

Apple has quietly updated several models of its Magic Keyboards, replacing traditional text labels with graphical glyphs on key function keys. This update aligns the peripherals with the design language recently adopted for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro computers.

Visual Overhaul Across Key Models

The changes affect four specific models, available in both white and black key versions, including those equipped with Touch ID. Keys such as Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Return, and Delete now feature symbols instead of printed text.

For full-size keyboards with numeric keypads, the redesign extends to navigation keys like Home, Page Up, Page Down, End, Clear, and Enter. However, the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad that lacks Touch ID remains unchanged, retaining its original text labels.

Global Consistency and User Experience

This shift towards glyph-based labeling aims to create a more universal and aesthetically consistent interface across Apple's ecosystem. Since the U.S. English layout is default in countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, the impact is global.
