Luxury Jewelry Adorns Arab Horse Necks at Abu Dhabi Expo

A unique collection of jewelry crafted specifically to adorn the necks of purebred Arab horses was showcased at the International Hunting and Equestrian Expo in Abu Dhabi in September 2026, merging art with sport.
Design and Innovation
Designer Hajar, owner of the "Al-Hana" brand and stable for authentic Arab horses, said the idea stemmed from daily observation of horses. She began the design from the shape and curvature of the horse's neck, considering proportions and mounting methods from the start. The concept moved to precise drawings that defined how the piece would extend and move with the horse’s head and body before selecting materials and stones.
The collection ranges from necklaces studded with crystal, zircon, pearl, and metal elements to simpler, flowing designs. Each piece varies in size, stone placement, and how its elements travel along the neck, with some featuring geometric or three‑dimensional forms.
Field Testing
Once fabricated, each necklace undergoes on‑horse testing while the animal stands and moves, assessing balance, stability, flexibility, and fastening mechanisms. Adjustments to weight distribution, attachment points, or stone placement may be made based on performance, especially for larger or more intricate designs.
Hajar emphasizes that material choice goes beyond aesthetics; weight, color, light reflection, and suitability for the horse’s motion are crucial. Some stones suitable for traditional jewelry are unsuitable for a constantly moving piece.
These jewelry pieces demonstrate how art can harmonize with equestrian tradition, drawing inspiration from the horse’s neck curvature, head height, and gait rhythm to create functional yet beautiful adornments.
