The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today that the cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli assault since March 2, 2026 has risen to 16,612 individuals, including 4,335 fatalities and 12,277 injuries.

Casualty Breakdown

According to the ministry’s official statement, 4,335 civilians and combatants have been killed while 12,277 have been wounded. Among the wounded, 135 health‑care workers were killed and 410 were injured while carrying out their duties amid 178 attacks that specifically targeted ambulance crews and medical staff.

The ministry stressed that these figures encompass victims of shelling across Lebanese villages and cities, as well as damage to hospitals and shelter facilities. Roughly 1.5 million displaced persons remain unregistered in official camps, highlighting the deepening humanitarian crisis.

Conflict Background

Violence escalated after Israel launched a major operation on March 2, 2026, striking both military and civilian sites in Lebanon. Hostilities continue in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli foreign ministry removed a map of the region from its English‑language X account, drawing international criticism for information suppression.

The health ministry warns that medical and humanitarian needs will keep growing as the bombardment intensifies, urging the international community to press both sides to halt hostilities and to secure safe routes for displaced populations to receive aid.
