Al-Mari said the upcoming edition will carry a new identity, building on the festival’s legacy to meet the aspirations of filmmakers across the Middle East, expecting to attract creators from the whole region.
The festival, launched in 2004, ran for 14 editions until December 2017 and became one of the leading cinematic platforms in the Gulf, enabling hundreds of Arab talents to showcase their works internationally.
Historical context
Since its inception, the event aimed to make Dubai a window for Arab cinema to the world and a bridge linking creators and diverse cultures. After a ten‑year pause, organizers plan to revive it in line with recent changes in the regional film industry.
The new edition is expected to celebrate the Middle East and its creators, with a stronger focus on innovation and contemporary storytelling.
