Brad Cooper Wraps Up Ten-Day Middle East Tour
U.S. Central Command leader Admiral Brad Cooper concluded a ten‑day Middle East tour on August 15, visiting six countries and an American aircraft carrier. The itinerary included Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the carrier Abraham Lincoln operating in the Arabian Sea.

In Jordan, Cooper oversaw the hand‑over ceremony of the Combined Task Force “Operation Iron Resolve,” passing command from Major General Kevin Lambert to Admiral Liam Holin. Aboard the Lincoln, he met sailors and Marines for a second time this year, praising their performance during “Operation Epic Fury,” which involves regional security missions and a continuing maritime blockade of Iran.
Political and military context
The visit followed Israeli reports that Cooper urged a resumption of joint strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, warning that such attacks would “change the game” and cause severe pain for Tehran. He added that the United States might have no choice but to restart combat operations if Iran’s stance does not shift.
The tour underscores the United States’ ongoing military presence in the region and its commitment to work with allies to counter Iranian threats.
