Azizi Attacks Trump: Personal Security Trumps Hormuz Bluffs

Iranian MP Ibrahim Azizi launched a personal attack on the US president, mocking his threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz, urging him to focus on his own security rather than what he termed empty rhetoric.

Mocking US Aggression

Azizi, head of the National Security Committee, posted a sarcastic message on X, suggesting that Donald Trump should worry about his personal safety before hiding in a food truck, responding to the president's persistent and hollow threats concerning the strategic waterway.

These remarks followed Trump's announcement in New York that he intends to declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory after defeating Iran, justifying this by imposing a blockade that restricts ship passage without American permission, in an escalatory diplomatic stance.

Diplomatic and Economic Tensions

Iranian officials, including Judiciary Head Gholam-Hossein Mohseni, affirmed that the strait is an integral part of Iranian sovereignty, dismissing Trump's claims as delusions, while Foreign Ministry aide Kazem Gharibabadi warned that control cannot be seized through tweets or campaign speeches.

This escalation has raised global concerns about energy supply stability, given the strait's vital role in transporting about a fifth of the world's oil, amid Russian and Chinese warnings against altering its legal status and fears of economic repercussions on Gulf security.
