Apple unveiled extensive upgrades in its Apple Watch Series 12, potentially prompting WHOOP fitness tracker users to switch to the smartwatch. The launch coincides with a revamped Apple Health app on iOS 27, offering clearer, more organized health data.

Heart‑rate sampling boost

Previous Apple Watch models recorded heart rate every five minutes, whereas WHOOP samples every second. Series 12 now measures every five seconds, a significant step that should satisfy most non‑professional users. Apple also introduced a “Readiness” app that scores readiness from 1 to 10 based on heart‑rate variability (HRV) and other factors, mirroring WHOOP’s recovery metric.

All‑in‑one health experience on the wrist

Alongside the enhanced Apple Health display, the watch now lets users monitor sleep and exertion directly on the device, eliminating the need for a phone. While sleep scoring still lacks nuance for certain parameters, the updates position Apple Watch Series 12 as a stronger contender in daily health tracking.

These refinements may give WHOOP‑dependent users a compelling reason to return to Apple’s integrated ecosystem, especially if they prefer instant health insights on their wrist.
