Rima Al-Rahbani Voices Grief Over Brother Ziad Al-Rahbani's Death

Lebanese director Rima Al-Rahbani expressed deep sorrow on Facebook following the death of her brother, artist Ziad Al-Rahbani, stating that his death resulted from a medical mistake or negligence. She clarified that the physicians she trusted failed to handle his condition properly, calling it a “big mistake.”

Refusal of Multiple Medical Consultations

Rima emphasized that her brother adamantly refused to seek other doctors, blaming this refusal as a key factor in worsening his health. She condemned the lack of alternative treatment options provided to him.

The director also denied media rumors claiming Ziad needed a liver transplant or financial aid, and refuted Culture Minister Ghassan Salame’s statement that the artist declined a transplant.

Challenge of Religious Forgiveness

Rima revealed an inner conflict between her Christian belief in forgiveness and her intense anger, saying, “God does not forgive the one responsible, even though I am a Christian and should forgive, but for the first time I cannot.” This highlights the profound personal pain caused by losing a loved one.
