The Yemeni army spokesperson, Maj. Majid Al-Nazili, declared that the armed forces will not permit the Houthi militia to turn civilian infrastructure into legitimate targets, stressing that any attack on Al-Makha port will be met with a severe penalty.

Al-Nazili's statements

Al-Nazili said the army will continue its duties to safeguard the Yemeni people, national assets, regional waters and vital interests. He added that efforts will remain focused on eliminating the terrorist threat posed by the Iran‑backed Houthi forces, preserving Yemen's sovereignty and citizens' safety.

Broader context

The remarks come as hostilities intensify along the southern coast, where Al-Makha port is a critical gateway for food and essential goods. Attacks on ports form part of the Houthis' strategy to pressure the Yemeni government and exacerbate humanitarian crises.

The army affirmed it will take all necessary measures to prevent violations of civilian facilities and prosecute those responsible under the law.
