Xiaomi Introduces AI-Powered Back Screen for Xiaomi 18 Pro Devices

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has unveiled a major upgrade to the rear screen of its upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max devices, now supporting AI‑driven custom apps that go beyond static widgets.
Technical details
In a teaser video posted on Weibo, Xiaomi explained that users can create simple AI‑powered tools such as water‑drinking reminders, egg‑boiling timers, recipe suggestions, or English‑vocabulary helpers. This marks a shift from the previous generation (Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max), which only offered a fixed set of pre‑installed cards.
Partnerships and custom content
The company has teamed up with several Chinese brands to provide bespoke app cards for the rear screen, allowing users to tailor the interface to their personal needs.
Background and launch
The two models are slated for a China release later this month, and leaks suggest they will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, boosting AI performance on the devices.
This move underscores Xiaomi’s strategy to embed artificial intelligence throughout its smartphones, delivering a more interactive and personalized user experience.
