Syrian Artists Union Chief Welcomes Assala, Emphasizes Authenticity Values in Damascus

Syrian Artists Union chief Mazen Al-Nator expressed a warm welcome for singer Assala on Monday, ahead of her upcoming concert in Damascus.

Al-Nator's statements

In a video posted on the union's Facebook page, he defined "authenticity" as a double‑vision perspective and an awareness of the importance of coexistence in the land that is the cradle of civilizations. He stressed that artists, especially Assala, should record their national and ethical stances during crises.

Concert significance

Al-Nator highlighted that Assala is more than a melodious voice; she is a source of pride for Syria, urging anyone with "authenticity" like hers to preserve it. The concert will be held at the Al‑Faiha Sports Hall on Thursday, 17 September, under the Ministry of Culture’s sponsorship, and tickets sold out within two days of online release.

Context

Despite calls from some extremist voices on social media to cancel the event for religious reasons, the concert remains scheduled. Earlier, presidential media advisor Ahmed Muwafaq Zidan praised Assala, indicating official support for the show.

The event is expected to attract a wide audience and reflect the ongoing vibrancy of Syria's artistic scene despite challenges.
