Samsung is preparing a major overhaul for the camera system on the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra. Recent leaks suggest the company will simplify the rear camera module, reducing the count from four lenses to just three by removing one existing camera.
New Zoom Sensor Details
Information circulating on X indicates Samsung will replace the dual zoom cameras found in the current model with a single, advanced lens. This new camera relies on a significantly larger sensor, marking a notable technical leap over the previous design.
The new sensor is expected to measure 1/1.9 inches, offering 4x optical zoom. This placement serves as a middle ground between the Galaxy S26 Ultra's current 3x and 5x optical zoom cameras.
Enhanced Low-Light Performance
The current 5x zoom sensor in the Galaxy S26 Ultra measures 1/2.52 inches, while the 3x variant uses a smaller 1/3.94-inch sensor. The shift to a much larger sensor promises significant improvements in light gathering capabilities.
