A new stage production titled "Halim, The Age of Romance" is set to premiere in March 2027, marking the 50th anniversary of the passing of Egyptian music legend Abdel Halim Hafez. This project aims to highlight a distinct artistic facet of his life through a fresh theatrical lens.

A Focus on Romantic Experience

Writer Medhat Adel announced during a press conference in Cairo that the script was completed two months ago. He clarified that the play centers on the "romantic experience" in Hafez's life, emphasizing his artistic persona.

Adel confirmed that the production will avoid delving into private life details or romantic relationships, focusing instead on the human and artistic dimensions that defined Hafez. This follows his previous works, including the 2006 series "The Nightingale: A People's Story" and a well-received play about Umm Kulthum.

Artistic Background

Medhat Adel is a prominent figure in dramatizing Hafez's life, having previously written the 2006 series which saw mixed success. His recent play on Umm Kulthum found acclaim in Egypt and Jordan in 2025, raising expectations for this new endeavor.

The play is anticipated to attract significant attention from critics and audiences alike as the landmark anniversary approaches for the icon of Arabic song.
