Pakistani Ambassador to Moscow, Faisal Niaz Turmizi, said his country looks forward to President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Pakistan in 2027, coinciding with Islamabad hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) heads‑of‑state summit.

Statement details

Speaking at a press conference in the International Multimedia Press Center of the "Russia Segodnya" agency, Turmizi stressed that Pakistan eagerly awaits the trip, noting the summit will be held in Pakistan next year. He recalled that President Putin described Moscow‑Islamabad ties as "mutually beneficial" during the credential‑presentation ceremony at the Kremlin.

Summit context

The invitation aligns with the 79th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence on August 14 and follows the launch of the SCO media and analysis centre summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, attended by about 250 delegates from member states, observer countries and dialogue partners.

The expected Putin visit is likely to deepen economic and security cooperation between Moscow and Islamabad, underscoring Pakistan’s central role in the regional bloc.
