Saudi Arabia has taken a major technological step toward redesigning its logistics infrastructure through a strategic partnership between local firm HUMAIN and global tech company Applied Intuition. This alliance aims to deploy thousands of autonomous trucks across the kingdom’s main highways, laying the groundwork for what is described as the world’s largest autonomous trucking network by 2030.

Physical AI Driving Logistics Innovation

The technical framework relies on integrating HUMAIN’s sovereign AI infrastructure within the Kingdom with Applied Intuition’s integrated physical AI platform. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to move AI applications from data centers to real-world machinery, starting with trucking and eventually expanding to ports, mining, agriculture, construction, and other sectors.

Applied Intuition will provide the SDS autonomous driving system, a vehicle operating system and intelligent assistance solutions designed to function at a scale reaching one billion moving machines globally. This system is already in use in Level 4 autonomous trucks on roads in the United States, Europe, and Japan, providing the project with global operational experience to support its success in Saudi Arabia.

A Future Vision for Logistics

This collaboration marks a paradigm shift in the logistics sector, focusing on improving fleet operational efficiency, increasing capacity, and reducing downtime. Executive leaders from both companies note that continuous operation of autonomous trucks around the clock will fundamentally transform cargo transport speed and costs, helping to address labor shortages and enhance road safety.

The Kingdom’s geography, main shipping corridors, and ongoing investments in logistics infrastructure create an ideal environment for scaling these advanced technologies. The partnership also aims to build a scalable model applicable to multiple sectors, including autonomous taxis, reinforcing the region’s status as a leader in widespread AI deployment.

As part of the local expansion, Applied Intuition is establishing a new office in Riyadh and building a team of specialized technical talents to support the operation and scaling of autonomous truck fleets. This human and technical investment reflects both companies' commitment to transferring knowledge and building a local skill base capable of managing and operating these complex systems sustainably and independently in the future.
