A truck collided with an ambulance that was parked on the side of Highway 44 in Hesse, Germany, on Thursday evening, causing the patient and three paramedics to be thrown to the ground with serious injuries.

Police said the driver did not brake before the impact. The ambulance was transporting a broken‑down‑vehicle driver when the crash occurred. The left side of the ambulance broke apart, dropping the occupants onto the road. Four victims were taken to nearby hospitals by two helicopters and two ambulances.
Injuries and aftermath
The patient and three paramedics suffered severe injuries requiring intensive care, while the truck driver sustained minor wounds after his vehicle slid down an embankment and rolled several times. An expert is still examining the cause of the collision.
