Apple has signaled its intention to broaden the "Duo" foldable iPhone family following the launch of the first model, priced from $1,999. The company is reportedly planning three additional variants to cater to different user segments.

Proposed models

Bloomberg cites three possible additions: the "Duo Max" with a larger 7.6‑inch internal display for enhanced multitasking and entertainment, the "Duo Mini" featuring a more compact, vertically‑folding design reminiscent of Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip, and the "Duo SE" aimed at a lower price point by scaling back certain specifications.

Background and market outlook

The original "iPhone Duo" offers a 5.4‑inch external screen and a 7.6‑inch foldable inner display. Internally it was initially dubbed "iPhone Ultra" before the "Duo" branding was settled. Apple’s rollout hinges on the first model’s market performance and relies on a multi‑year screen supply agreement with Samsung.

Pre‑orders for the "iPhone Duo" open on October 16, with shipments slated for October 23. Consumers seeking a smaller or more affordable foldable may have to wait until at least next year.
