Anthropic has unveiled two new tools, Docs and Slides, for its Claude AI platform, enabling users to create and edit documents and presentations directly within chat conversations. The move aims to boost the platform's productivity capabilities and rival Google's integrated services.

Tool Details

Both tools are now available in beta and let users generate text files and slide decks through any Claude conversation, request further tweaks from the assistant or edit manually, then export and share the results. Real‑time collaboration and comment features similar to Google Docs are supported.

One Claude Interface and Integration

Alongside the new tools, Anthropic has rolled out a unified “One Claude” interface that bundles productivity features, including Artifacts and Claude Design, allowing seamless switching between AI utilities without leaving the chat. Claude can automatically determine which tools a task requires and activate them on the fly.

Tech Context

The launch coincides with Google’s rollout of its Gemini assistant across Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, intensifying competition in AI‑enhanced productivity. Anthropic’s update seeks to narrow the gap between Claude and Google Workspace by offering an all‑in‑one content creation, editing, and collaboration experience.

The update is currently available to Pro and Max subscribers via web, desktop and mobile apps, with plans to extend to Team plans and free accounts in the coming weeks, requiring no extra configuration.
